How to Book a trip with Ignace Outposts

Today we are running our first aircraft. Not flying yet, we need ice out for that, but we are test running in the yard. Nothing signals spring in Ignace like the sound of an aircraft engine running.

To begin your adventure with Ignace Outposts the process is simple. First, consult with us by phone (807-934-2273) or email to determine if your first choice of dates and lake/ cabin is available. Keep in mind, we offer several species of fish on several lakes. There is no "best lake" since your standard of "best" may vary from mine. Let us help you make the choice to suit your angling desires. Many prime time weeks and cabins book quickly as guests make reservations for the following years immediately following their trip.

Next, confirm the options with your crew or if you have their blessing already, get penciled into a date. We must have a deposit within 10 days to confirm you trip. You can give us a credit card or get a check in the mail right away. Once your deposit is received, you will receive a written confirmation either by email or snail mail. You can then begin packing and repacking your gear. Don’t hesitate to contact us as the trip approaches. Be sure to send us your beverage order (beer, pop, and water) so we can try to get in into camp ahead of you and help with your weight planning.

We have a great guest planning handbook available on our web site in pdf format. After almost a quarter century in the business we’ve heard most of the questions involved in planning a trip like this, so we prepared this guide to help save you time. If you have a question not addressed in our handbook, we are always willing to answer the questions we are able to help make your trip the best. If it is something others will appreciate too, we may add a chapter to our guide.

Tight lines,

Brad

New Trueisms

I would like to thank one of our guests and readers for sending me these new trueisms of modern life.

Enjoy!

1. Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright, until you hear them speak.

2. A fine is a tax for doing wrong. A tax is a fine for doing well.

3. He, who laughs last, thinks slowest.

4. A day without sunshine is like ... night.

5. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat all day long drinking beer.

6. It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world from end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them.

7. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool

8. The new 50-50-90 rule: Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% chance you'll get it wrong.

9. If the shoe fits, get another one just like it.

10.The Ignace Ontario area has some of the finest fishing in Canada. If you want a fly in trip which will give memories that will last a life time, Ignace Outposts will provide that trip.

To catch trophies as well as great quantity, or to just relax and enjoy nature give Brad or Karen at Ignace Outposts a call at 807-934-2273. Visit our site at www.ignaceoutposts.com

What happened to Spring?

Just when we thought spring was well on the way we woke up today (Sat April 26) to a major winter storm. Some areas in Northwestern Ontario have received over 30 cm (1 foot) of snow over the last 24 hours. In Ignace we ended up with mostly freezing rain and now it is snowing and drifting. With temps forecast to be lower than normal, we may be looking at ice out being delayed.

I guess we can only grin and bear it while we wait for break up...

In spite of the snow happening at the moment, we know open water and great fishing is just around the corner. If you are thinking about a Canadian Fishing trip this summer, give me a call at 807-934-2273 and we will get you set up at Ignace Outposts. See our web site for more details.

Getting ready for spring

I'm often asked, "What do you guys do in the winter?" Well, it is actually quite busy around here in the winter months. Karen and I spend a lot of time traveling to sport shows, attending meetings, working on marketing etc. The real work though is done in the shop.
We are fortunate to have a good shop and some really talented AMEs working with us. Marcel and Joe keep the fleet in top shape by working hard all winter preparing the aircraft for another summer of reliable operation. Marcel works all winter, and Joe comes in part time to give Marcel a hand. Both are licensed and experienced AMEs. Heck, Marcel even had me in the shop yesterday helping prepare the Beaver floats for paint. This winter the Beaver received an overhauled engine, and a little refurbishing on the floats replacing some worn parts and a little paint. The Otter spent several weeks in the shop for its regular winter medical and the Cessna was prepared for another season. It is our thinking that good winter maintenance is necessary for save and reliable flying in the summer.
In another week or so the aircraft will all be test run and last minute adjustments will be made. Once the open water comes, Marcel will spend some time flying the Beaver while Joe will head off to Seseganaga Lake to spend the summer as our camp attendant.

Ignace Outposts Video

With all the technology available now with the internet, I have to do a little learning about posting videos. Here is a little video that I put together as a promo about our business. As I learn more, I'll try to get more things like this up on the net. This little blurb is only 1:40 long so enjoy. It is meant to get your fishing desires flowing.
Fishing at Ignace Outposts can be the experience of a life time. However since vacations are mandatory, rather than optional for sound mind and body, why not do it again?

Monster Northern

Over the last few years, I have received many emails regarding this monster northern.

All kinds of places have been claiming this fish from Saskatchewan, Lake of the Woods, Wisc. and Manitoba. It is no doubt it is a big fish. I would love to claim it for Seseganaga, Flindt, Hilltop or Metionga Lakes. I am sure this fish's grandfather is in one of our lakes.

Here is the true story.

It is not a Canadian Record, nor a US record. It was caught in, of all places, Holland.

I suppose there will be a run on the Perch Pattern Super Shad Rap now.

I guess we can only keep trying.

Fish For Free!

Our camps are located throughout the Northwest so I have prepared a Google map with pictures of the various lakes, fish, and facilities. You can find the map here:

Ignace Google Map

Book mark the maps and feel free to send the link to your friends. We still have our referral discount so if your buddies book their own group you can receive a discount on your own trip.

We call it Fish for Free!

If you refer a new group of 4 you get a third off on your regular trip this year. If you refer a new group of 6 you get half off with your regular group this year. We call it our "Fish For Free" discount since 12 new guys means you go as our guest with your regular group. Of course we have to know about the referral so both you and the new group should mention to us about the referral when they book and deposit. (No group is booked until deposited.)

Not too complicated but it sure can help ease the sting of the lower US$.

Ignace Outpost Fishing Forum Shut Down

Ignace Outposts Fishing Forum was launched in the fall of 07. I thought this would be a great place to trade ideas and techniques for fishing and other things but we hit a massive force of undesirable spammers.

I have decided to shut down our fishing forum for a time. I have been fighting spammers for months now. Why do people do this? Every day we were spammed at least 2 dozen times and it was getting frustrating and time consuming deleting these idiots. I am looking at a better forum program which has more security but until then the forum will be off line.

I will make a concerted effort to update this blog regularly so if you are interested happenings at Ignace Outposts and Airways, book mark this blog and check out my musings.

Bring your wife Fishing!

Ignace Outposts

A Unique Holiday with Someone Special

Ignace Outposts is offering special pricing for couples only during select weeks this summer. We have picked a time period - June 28 to July 19 - when the winds are typically light, bugs are few and temperatures are at their warmest. It is also at the peek of our fishing time so you can both experience lots of light tackle action for walleye and northern (or bass and trout too!)

Couples trip at Igance Outposts

Ignace Outposts Couples' Special

During the past few years Karen and I have enjoyed the company of other couples on a fly in experience. We now want to encourage you to plan a trip with your significant other and friends. Experience the Canadian wilderness with the companionship of other couples.

Besides fishing, why not plan some wild life viewing, shore lunches, swimming, sight seeing, gourmet suppers, photography or exploration. Give the girls a little reprieve in the kitchen and show off the culinary expertise you've gained from those trips with the guys. Have a little derby, guys vs. gals, with bragging rights til the next adventure. Find out that you don't need to sit on a bench in a mall to show your wife you love her. Do you dare deliver morning camp coffee to the gals while they contemplate life on the deck? There are many treats and surprises that could make this a vacation to rival all others.

As the sun sinks low on the horizon, you'll enjoy relaxing together with Fish Tales and a rehashing of the day's adventures.

Book a Couples' Trip at the special rate of $2,000.00 (per couple) for 5 days at a north camp (Tri, Metionga, Seseganaga, Hilltop or Flindt) or $1500.00 (per couple) for Irene Lake. A minimum group size of 4 or 6 is applicable in various cabins.

(of course taxes and license are extra)

We look forward to welcoming the ladies!

The United States Government stimulus plan tax rebate checks will be mailed out in May or shortly thereafter. Why not use this extra cash money to book a couples' trip with Ignace Outposts this summer?

Give us a call at 807-934-2273 or email us. Book soon to ensure your spot.
