Shows are over

The Minneapolis sport show ended on Sunday and I have safely arrived home after another sport show season.  We covered the mid west part of the US on our show circuit and we were able to visit with many regular guests, and we met some new guests.  It is always great to be on their turf.  But it is better to be back in our own familiar territory.  We now begin the spring chores getting all our ducks in a row and ready for walleye opener and our first guests in May.

It seems opener comes faster each year.

If you missed us at the shows, don’t fret.  We still have some great openings and you can contact us know at our office number or by email.

Don’t miss your 2010 Ignace Outposts fishing adventure.

Welcome Baylee

While I was away at the Minneapolis Sport show, our son Mike and his lovely wife Care became first time parents.  Care delivered a 8lb 4 oz keeper.  An 8 lb walleye would be photographed and returned to the lake but there is no way this little girl is not being kept.

I did the Minneapolis show myself as Karen remained close by to be available for grandmother type hugs and cuddles as soon as possible.  I’ll be meeting my new fishing buddy soon.

Congrats Mike and Care.

Do you know what an anglewitch is?

Anglewitch is not a bent out of shape, black caped old woman with a pointy hat…

ANGLEWITCH (n.)  an obsolete word meaning a worm that is used as a lure or bait to catch a fish.

See you can actually learn something on this blog.

Another tidbit of great information is that Ignace Outposts is the place to be for unsurpassed walleye, northern, lake trout and smallmouth bass fishing.  The folks around here, the equipment and the facilities are pretty awesome too.

So get your anglewitches when you arrive in Ignace and we’ll fly you and your anglewitches (and your buddies) to one of our remote lakes for that experience of a lifetime.

A thought…

“Fishing at Ignace Outposts is relaxing, the most relaxing thing in my life. I don't think about business..., bad weather or work. All I think about is catching the next fish.”         Any Angler

Thinking of summer

As the weather hints of spring, the days get longer, and snow piles retreat we begin to think of summer.  Summer brings open water and fly- in fishing.  At Ignace Outposts we get excited at the thought of feisty walleye, lunker northern, heavy trout and  fighting bass.

I am learning we are not the only ones thinking of these things.

This note came this morning.  It just adds to the anticipation.

“Hi Karen, Brad.

Looking forward to coming back up to your place in Aug. The other guys are excited too.

While looking through some older pic’s from previous trips to Irene lake, I came across a couple of photos that might look good in the photo gallery on  your website. What do you think?  Thx,

-Mike M”

A fisherman’s prayer

God grant me the Serenity to accept the size of the fish I catch,
the Courage not to fib about it,
and the Wisdom to know that no one would believe me anyway.

Traveling with kids

We see many fishing groups visit us with kids.  This is a good thing.  Taking a kid fishing can be rewarding, fulfilling and memorable for both the child and adult.  Many times we see fathers with their own children, sometimes it is a grandparent or other relative and less common but still exciting is a neighbor or other friend of the child coming along as company.

Recently we’ve had some inquiries regarding bringing children to visit Ignace Outposts from the USA.  We are not experts in law but we can refer you to some good web resources.  With the more thorough scrutiny we are seeing at borders there are some things you may wish to consider when traveling over the border with kids.

Firstly children under the age of 16, I’d take that as being 15 and under do not require passports but they are advisable.  They do however, require birth certificates.  US Department of State  At age 16 and over, passports are required.

If the child is under 18, it is also advisable that the guardian has a signed letter from either the non present parent or both parents. US Customs and Border Protection

Here is a sample of Authorization for Foreign Travel With Minor

While you are planning this trip it is also advisable to have this form  Authorization for Minor's Medical Treatment in the event that medical treatment is required.

There is always lots to think about in planning a trip over international borders.  We want to make the process enjoyable and successful for you.  When you book your Ignace Outposts fishing vacation, we’ll do what we can to help you plan your trip.

We work hard to separate ourselves from the pack in regards to being just another outfitter.  We can and do offer great fishing and value for your dollar, but we are also leaders in the industry when it comes to service and doing the little things to help make your vacation as good or better than you expect.

Our motto is  “Either lead, follow or get out of the way”.  We choose to lead.

Canada Day eh!

On March 1, the Minnesota State Government (Senate and House) declared the day  Canada Day at the Capitol.

Canada Day Earth Times

Canada Day MSNBC

Without a doubt, Minnesota and Canada are linked economically, geographically and socially.  We see about 40% of our US guests from just one state - Minnesota.

Our welcome sign is out and our doors are open too for our friends from the USA to visit Ignace Outposts.
